It all began with a letter that came in the middle of the night.

Crookback is a 1-bit platformer for Playdate — a tribute to the 1983 arcade classic Hunchback, reimagined with the crank and a whole lot more.

Climb the castle walls. Dodge arrows and fireballs. Ring every bell. And when the guards stand in your way, crank your bow and let your arrow fly.

TWO MODES

Story Mode — 50 hand-crafted levels where our hero, disguised as Crookback, tries to rescue the princess from the highest tower of the castle. A night of rain, wind, ice, darkness, and impossible gravity stands between him and the one who sent the letter.

Endless Mode — Infinite procedurally-scaling challenge. Survive as long as you can. Climb the scoreboard. Become a legend.

CRANK YOUR BOW

Pull back the crank, aim, release. The crank isn't a gimmick here — it's your weapon. Time your shots between jumps and ring the bell before the guards catch up.

WEATHER & WORLDS

Every few levels the world shifts:
- Rain — slippery stones and poor footing
- Wind — gusts that push your jumps
- Snow — ice under your boots
- Dark — only a small circle of vision
- Anti-gravity — the ground is a suggestion
